Wound/pressure sore prevention and management presentation on Oct. 20th

On Thursday, October 20th, the SCI Connections meeting will host Dr. James Crew and RN Rimma Katsovskaya of Santa Clara Valley Medical Center who will address this extremely important topic to the SCI population.

Dr. Crew is the Chair of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at SCVMC and Katsovskaya is the Lead Wound and Ostomy Nurse at SCVMC.

This 40-minute presentation will focus on the prevention and treatment of pressure sores following SCI. Objectives of this talk include a review of the pathophysiology of pressure sore development, focus on the risk factors for pressure sore development in the SCI population, and discussion on the treatment strategies to minimize pressure sore progression and optimization of wound healing.  Following the presentation, a 15-min Q&A will be held.

This presentation will take place from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Bascom Community Center located at 1000 S.
