I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the nice weather. Our monthly SCI Connections meeting is coming up on Thursday May 16th at the Camden Community Center (3369 Union Ave. San Jose, CA 95124 – Classroom #4) , from 6:30pm-8:30pm.
For this month’s meeting, we will be having another great speaker! Our guest speaker for this month’s meeting will be, Dr. James Crew, acting Chief of Spinal Cord and Orthopedic Rehabilitation, at the department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. This is definitely a meeting you will not want to miss. Dr. Crew will be speaking to us about, “Health After SCI” and after his talk we will have a Q&A session, so have your questions ready.
SCI Connections, is a great place to stay informed, network and get support from other disabled individuals in your community. Families are always welcomed and dinner will also be provided
Our Patterson Net has launched and we will be webcasting this SCI Connections meeting live from the Camden Community Center! If you live outside of Santa Clara County, don’t have transportation to the meeting or just can’t come but would still like to tune in and join the webcast then please let me know by Wednesday May 15 so that I can add you to the viewing list.
The Patterson Net will allow anyone with an internet connection to have access to our meetings and educational events.

Dr. Crew is a graduate of Creighton university School of Medicine and received both his PM&R residency and fellowship training in Spinal Cord Injury Medicine at the university of Washington. He is currently the acting Chief of Spinal Cord and Orthopedic Rehabilitation, at the department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. In addition to treating individuals with SCI, Dr. Crew is the SCVMC site director for Stanford physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residents who train at SCVMC and is the 2011 recipient of the Sam Schmidt paralysis Foundation Research grant, jointly funded by the Sell Fund of the American Spinal Injury Association (ASIA) and the Sam Schmidt paralysis Foundation. The grant, named for the former Indy Car driver and current SCI survivor, is designed to support the investigative research of outstanding clinical scientists during the early stages of their careers.
